Sometimes the mission you set out to achieve is bigger and broader than originally thought. As was the case when the Dairy Strong Sustainability Alliance (DSSA) realized their mission of helping farmers make tangible improvements to the environment and other aspects of their farms extended far beyond the dairy industry.

Our team was beyond impressed throughout our time working with C.O.nxt. Their creativity, professionalism and integrated team approach translated to quality work. With the help of C.O.nxt, we can easily tell our story and confidently approach potential collaborators thanks to the resources we have from brand camp.

Keep calm and camp on.

It was time to head to brand camp—a one-day, activity-packed session that brings together key stakeholders of the organization to discover, align and rally around a new brand. After all, branding is not to be taken lightly. Brands are the connecting point between business and consumer, communicating who a company is and why they exist. DSSA gathered their marketing team and several key members, and we got to work.

Digging deep and discovering the why.

DSSA brought their mission, vision and ideas. Now, it was time to dig deep and discover their why. Your why is the underlying reason you do any of it. Your higher purpose. A core belief or truth that makes your organization and your work necessary. So, what was DSSA’s why?

What’s in a name?

The name “Dairy Strong Sustainability Alliance” didn’t quite cover everything our client stood for. We needed a name fit for the only collaborative, non-profit organization that provides resources, advocacy, support and empowerment for farmers who are innovating and demonstrating sustainable farming practices.

Introducing Farmers for Sustainable Food—a simple, timeless name that will hold true as the brand continues to evolve. 

Equipped with a new name and a deeper understanding of the brand, it was time to develop the rules. What’s our tone? What font should we use? No need to panic—it’s all in the style guide.

And we’re live.

With the final stamp of approval on everything we helped FSF create, it was time to launch their new brand. On May 11, 2021, the Dairy Strong Sustainability Alliance announced its transformation into Farmers for Sustainable Food, a nonprofit organization that provides resources, advocacy, support and empowerment for farmers who are innovating and demonstrating sustainable farming practices.
