“What did you get this holiday season?”

It’s a typical question around this time of year. And while it’s a perfectly fine conversation-starter as we kick off 2023, we prefer answering this one: “What did you give this holiday season?”

To which, we can joyously, gratefully and humbly reply, “Everything from a goat to comfort kits for chemotherapy patients.”

This holiday season at C.O.nxt, we decided to add a new twist to the classic holiday song, “The 12 Days of Christmas” by turning it into a call for positive social action. Specifically, we chose a dozen nonprofits that are near and dear to the hearts of our employee owners—then donated time and resources accordingly.

Here’s a quick holiday giving recap of our “Twelve Days of Givemas”:

Day  1

Day  2

Meals for two families at The Woman’s Center.

Day  3

Three trees for Trees for Troops.

Day  4

Four boxes of supplies to Liam’s Wish.

Day  5

Five holiday wish lists to Next Door.

Day  6

Six comfort kits to the Carbone Cancer Center.

Day  7

Seven bags of winter clothes to Father Gene’s Help Center.

Day  8

Eight cases of dog food and treats to Friends of Fido.

Day  9

Ten gallons of milk to The Love Fridge Chicago.

Day 10

Eleven agriculture books like this one to local school libraries.

Day 11

Eight cases of dog food and treats to Friends of Fido.

Day 12

Letter-writing campaign through Letters Against Isolation.

As all of us at C.O.nxt turn our attentions to whatever agriculture communications and food marketing challenges lie ahead in 2023, we want to continually remind ourselves that doing corporate social responsibility should never be limited to a dozen days in December.

Together, let’s make it an everyday reality in 2023.
